A sunny Sunday outfit post!

Tis' a lovely Sunday evening here and I am spending it in my pj's on the sofa with the window open (for the first time in about 6 months!) having been stuffed to the gills with food. Ahhhh, Sunday.

I thought I'd share with you my Sunday outfit (albeit, from last Sunday) which I wore for a jaunt to a local pub for a massive Sunday lunch with pals. It was one of those outfits which just sort of fell together, but that I really love.

I created the outfit based around the lovely rayon oriental lounging pyjama top, which I picked up from Judy's vintage fair in Spitalfields which I visited on Easter Bank Holiday Monday with some of my gorgeous vintage-loving chums. It came from the bargain box on a stall for an impressive £5, along with the belt I am wearing!

 

 Outfit details:

Cashmere 50's style coat: charity shop.

1940's beaded necklace: fleamarket.

Lounging pyjama blouse (30's/40's?): Judy's vintage fair.

Embroidered fabric cinch belt: Judy's vintage fair.

Wool pencil skirt: handmade by me.

Wooden bracelets: charity shops and carboots.

1930's embroidered handbag: Scarlet Rage Vintage.

1940's style platforms: Miss L Fire.

I also wore some handmade (RosieAliaDesigns) colourful purple orchids in my hair to top it off.

I adore this outfit, but was soon regretting the cinch belt when I had consumed a large roast dinner, a very dense chocolate pudding and some bubbly cider. I hobbled home after dinner and immediately changed into something more roomy to allow my food to digest whilst reclining on the sofa.

Crouch end adventures and vintage finds!

How have your weekends been?

This is what I wore for my saturday adventure:

 

 White snood: ebay.

1940's dress: ebay.

Yesterday I took a trip up to crouch end in search of some bargains, and it was such a lovely sunny day that I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure. I was on the phone to my mother making plans for her visit next weekend, and as such I got distracted and walked totally the wrong way in search of the North London Vintage Market! But I found it eventually (after about an hours walk!) and perused the stalls in search of some bargains. It was in a church hall, lots of little stalls set up and lots of people milling around- twas pretty busy! It mostly seemed to be little housey things I already had, a few bits of lovely clothes I couldn't afford (like some 1930's silk high-waisted knickers) or slightly overpriced items. But I did snag myself some lovely things...

Edwardian shoe pinushion, £7.

I was on the phone to my mumma when I saw the pincushion and told her about it (as she had bought me one of these for my birthday) and when I mentioned it she decided she wanted one for HER birthday! So I bought it....we will have matching edwardian shoe pinushions! What are the chances!

I then loaded up my sewing basket with my finds and trotted off back into the sun. Now, I was walking to the bus, intending to go straight to the supermarket....but I just couldn't pass the charity shops without peeking in. JUST IN CASE. I just had this feeling. So in I popped, and boy was I glad I did!

A very kitsch pink plastic wall-mounted bathroom unit, £10!!

...and the mirror lifts up to reveal more shelves!

Yes, some may say this is hideous...my mum did! And Mr Mike's face was a sight when he walked in to find it.... but I love it! And I just couldn't not buy it! I don't even have the space to put this up and use it anywhere yet. But, one day? Hmmm, totally worth the risk.

Country casuals skirt, £3.50.

 It is a loose weave linen-mix with a sort of late 40's/50's feel to it. I think it will come in handy for summer!

When I got home from my adventures, I put on my new apron and made some shortbread too...but more on that tomorrow!

A sunny saturday.

Hola!
It is a week into my new job, and my first proper weekend in ages! I have been trying to reset and readjust my body clock (this is the first time I’ve been up this late all week) and I’ve decided I need to make the most of my weekends off from now on.

Today me and the boy wandered up to crouch end…our new favourite place to stroll through, wishing we could afford to buy a house and frequent the lovely eateries there. Having previously found a cath kidston tea dress in a charity shop there, I wanted to revisit the charity shops to look for some more vintage bargs! I managed to nab myself the cutest vintage blue embroidered sweater for a fiver, and a vintage yellow cotton day dress for eight. I bought these from a lovely old lady who I overheard talking of when she married her husband in 1940, with him being 40 years her elder, and of how he died 25 years ago and she still misses him dearly….this made me incredibly sad! She was a nice lady.
We then popped along to The Haberdashery, which is an amazing little cafe on middle lane where we had a drink out of some lovely glass jars whilst listening to old vinyl!

 

The Haberdashery is a quaint little cafe with bunting, mismatched crockery and killer cakes. They hold a “Barboot” on the first friday of every month where you can drink cocktails from teacups, and shop for trinkets, vintage clothes and handmade bits and bobs. I attended their first and bought a couple of presents for others, as well as a very old pink working boxed hairdryer!

 

I will try and get a photo of my new clothes if I get a chance tomorrow, I am going to wear the outfit out to lunch with the boy and his parents…
