A jolly good satchel called Burt.

Hello dear readers.

I just wanted to share with you the parcel that arrived for me today...

Beautifully wrapped, but what could it be?

Just look at this. A brown paper parcel, tied with twine, no less! This is surely every girls dream? It certainly is mine. I literally jumped for joy when I saw it!

And a letter? Pour moi!

And the beautifully wrapped item itself.....

A delicious chocolate brown satchel of leathery goodness!

Now, this has ended a looooong and torturous search for 'the perfect satchel'. Carboots, ebay, charity shops, vintage shops. You name it, I looked there! I dreamed of discovering a wonderful battered World War II satchel with a story and a history. But, alas it was not to be. As it turns out, a good satchel is hard to come by! Either falling apart, wrong colour, lost strap, no strap. But my search is finally over, thanks to a certain miss Land Girl 1980 and this blog post!

Now I saw this post, and thought how incredible they sounded, but worried that maybe my purse wouldn't allow it and continued on my pursuit of a second hand one. But almost two months later, after having had no luck, and seeing my friends lovely new yellow leather satchel and the love she had for it, I thus made my decision...I needed one in my life!
So, I researched this wonderful company from which Land Girl had recieved such great customer service, and found their facebook page. What joy to see that they have an 'offers' section, where they are offering £35 off the chocolate brown satchel! Oh me, oh my, I couldn't believe it! And so, one had to be mine.

If you are looking for a beautiful satchel, and some jolly good customer service, then honestly do go and have a gander at The Leather Satchel Co.'s website.

The accompanying letter offered me a 5 year warranty...5 years! Though I trust it will no doubt last a lifetime, it's nice to know they offer this kind of service to customers.
And the last line of the letter?

'We do genuinely hope this satchel helps to keep-safe everything that is valuable to you, whilst also charming you with good luck'

I am giddy with excitement for him to start his journey of wear and tear, and so am off to prepare him for his first outing.
And I've named him....Burt!

A trip to the theatre!

Bonjour my lovelies!

Yesterday Mr Mike took me to the theatre to see Flare Path...and my, was I excited!
I set my hair in some Nicky Clarke heated rollers (which I havent done before), as I was too lazy/tired the night before to do my normal bendy roller set, but it actually turned out really well! The rollers were hella painful to wear, and to keep them from pulling out my hair with the weight, I donned my trusty pink hairnet and precariously fashioned some sort of supportive headscarf to keep them aloft. They gave much bigger curls than I'm normally accustomed to, but I feel I was actually having rather a good hair day in the end!

And this is my 'off to be cultured' outfit...

Green 1940's style home-sewn dress: charity shop, £8.
1930's beaded cardigan: gift.
Belt: charity shop.

First we stuffed our giant faces at an Indian restaurant....

Then we headed off to see the play...

As you can see, I was quite excited!

The play itself was wonderful. All set on a night in WWII in a Lincolnshire b&b, the play illustrates the lives, loves and worries of a group of people experiencing the war from the same plac,e but dealing with it in different ways. The play was full of drama and emotion, as we discover the links between the different characters we see before us in one room. And of course, I blubbed.....it was bound to happen. I think I have overly emotional tear ducts. Ha. I am in fact a big baby!

But really, it was an amazing play. And of course the characters had some glorious clothes! And who can resist a fine chap in a 1940's RAF uniform?

You really must see it if you get the chance!

A Penny Dreadful party!

Well, last night I went to a most wonderful party, hosted by Margaret of Penny Dreadful Vintage, to celebrate the launch of her new full-time business venture selling beautiful vintage clothes from the 20's to the 80's.

I made my way up there after my shift with Vintage Patisserie, wearing this dress that I made, and my 1930's beaded cardigan:

Yes, I am sneaky...this is an old photo of my trusty glamorous VP work outfit as
I do not have one from last night, but is exactly what I wore!
Of course, I never (always) wear the same outfit twice...shhhhh, that's between you and me.

Now, I unfortunately have ZERO photos from the party as my phone battery died prior to my arrival (I know, I know, I am a bad blogger), but it was a rather great affair or pimms, party food, and dressing up in glorious clothes!

I ate some of LandGirl1980's WWII scones, tried on wonderful clothes, and we even got a party bag upon departure...now that's a sign of a good party, don't you think?

I met some most wonderful people and had a great time- thank you Margaret!

I urge you all to go to the Penny Dreadful Vintage shop and check out her wonderful goodies...
